Hi everybody. I don't know if anybody else uses this but I find it fantastic.
Foxmarks synchronises the bookmarks file on Firefox with any PC you are using
(that runs Firefox of course). It works on Windows and Linux :-)
Just thought I'd mention an extremely useful little add on to Firefox :-)
Look for Foxmarks in the Add ons section. You do need to add it to every PC
running Firefox but then it holds your preferred bookmarks on a central
server file ready to download or update as you wish.
Kevan...on the Kubuntu Pc using Kmail :-) oh, and happy because the car
sailed through the MoT yesterday :-)

I use something similar but its called Bookmark Sync and Sort
I've tried Foxmarks but theres just something about storing my bookmarks
on a third party server that is iffy to me.

Can use your FTP server (or WebDAV apparently) to synchronize your
bookmarks with an XML file, then since its your FTP server you can make
as many secondary backups as you like after that.
The XML file it makes is also a standardized XML schema developed for
the storage of bookmarks...

Shame Mozilla didn't adopt this instead of SQLlite

See, you learn something every day. I've started using Google for
tonnes of stuff, I'm becoming less nervous of trusting Google with my
info as time goes buy then up comes browsersync I've been exporting
bookmarks to my pen drive for years then importing on any new installs
but this has got to be way easier.

Arch Linux is an independent i686-optimized community distribution for
intermediate and advanced Linux users. Utilising a Rolling Release
System packages are regularly updated and an ISO release is just a
snapshot to the stable packages at that time. So there's no need for a
fresh install the command 'pacman –Syu' upgrades the whole system.

Good grief!!! when did all these come out then? I was asking about
this well over a year ago and nobody seemed to know a good way of
synching bookmarks at the time. I too conducted the same routine that
Dick has been going through using a USB stick. Everytime I added
bookmarks to one PC I had to remember to save them and add them to the
other.... proper palaver it was. Until I found the Foxmarks add on.
Now it seems everyman and his dog has jumped on the bandwagon :-)
Good to have some choice though, I'm all for that.

Hmm, interesting. There's an awful lot that only work with Windows
:-( None that appear to work with Konqueror though, I wonder if the
Safari ones would? Being as Safari is based on Konqueror.. I may try
one of the others as I do run Opera on the Windows box :-)

Konqueror is using the XBEL standard so I guess this one file could
simply be symlinked from a mounted network file system for instance.
