Is it just me that is haing trouble with laptop DVD burners?
every disk i burn turns into a coaster :@ I am considering asking dell for a
replacement.

probably, what does it show up as? hdc? how is it labelled in fstab?
is it mounting right?

Have you tried a different brand of DVD? Not all brands are
compatible with all burners. Some disks work better with certain
burners than others. It's not always the expensive ones either. See
if you find out which brands are recommended to use with that burner.

from what i recall.. there's only like three companies worldwide that
make writable media... they're just rebranded i might be wrong?
