Ah......
That one still played up. To be honest I should find out what the
mobo is and find the jumper to wipe the BIOS settings. I did take the
battery out yesterday for about 10 minutes. It's worked in the past
but not this time. Add to that it will not boot from a CD so it must
be set to boot only from hard drive (floppy wouldn't do it either).
I'm not too bothered as I probably won't use the mobo. Especially
since I found it is only a Pentium MMX200.... More than anything it
just bugs me that I'm locked out of a board that I now own.
On a separate, but related, note I tried installing Puppy on one of
the older PC's I recently acquired (all legal). It went well and
installed....until it came to putting GRUB on again. To start with I
did have to install in what Puppy terms 'superfloppy' mode, this is to
the hard drive. Then it complained but seemed to install GRUB.
Except it obviously hasn't because it refuses to boot. However..... I
haven't given up as it may just be this stupid Auto, NORMAL or LAB
mode thing for the hard drive in the BIOS. I did note that it states
in the BIOS that: 'some UNIX/SCO OS's will only boot if the hard drive
is set to NORMAL'. I had tried AUTO and LBA but after that it got too
dark and it was time for a bite to eat so I left it for the evening.
