I dual boot Windows XP SP2 on one hard drive and Ubuntu on another hard
drive. Now I'd like to get rid of Ubuntu, as I no longer use it, and
reuse the hard drive for Windows XP. I also want to remove the GRUB boot
menu as well.
Can anyone remind me of how to do this?

Hi Tracey
Boot off the XP disc, select Recovery Console, when you get command prompt
do FIXMBR that will wipe grub / fix the boot record.
Out of interest why are you giving up on Linux? (Or are you?) I can
understand blitzing Ubuntu ;-) but is there not something more to your
liking?

Arch Linux is an independent i686-optimized community distribution for
intermediate and advanced Linux users. Utilising a Rolling Release System
packages are regularly updated and an ISO release is just a snapshot to the
stable packages at that time. So there's no need for a fresh install the
command 'pacman –Syu' upgrades the whole system.

If you wish to regain your extra hard drive space you need to go to Start>
Control Panel> Administrative Settings (or something like that) > Computer
Management> Disks...and then remove the EXT3 partition from the drive that
windows is installed from...you should then be able to format to NTFS and
mount the disk as a new drive that windows can use.
I'll write something better with pictures at some point today. Just not now.

I've got PartitionMagic 8.0 on Windows XP, actually - I've not used the

Possibly because of the misperception that the majority of Linux users
are spotty faced, male, geeks. To be fair, men do outnumber the women
in Linux (and other open source) circles. so, I see where the OP is

:-) sorry to disappoint, no, there wasn't. It's a confidential group
that I am a major part of, hence me not being able to say exactly what
went on. It's a very complex issue but at the heart of it there are a
very small number of people who do not want us to succeed in our
endeavour. That's why it's confidential :-)
