I was just wondering how many people actively used the staffs LUG, and
whether any meets etc were planned, the site could also do with being
updated, hence my wondering!

I do! But it's not very active.
I think the web pages should have the following:
A places page - good places to meet - eg the Shapla Indian in Alsager,
the Mermaid Pub on the moors above Leek etc.
A people page - names/detail/interests/contacts[photo] - so we can
remember who is who
Businesses - any Linux oriented businesses in the area
Links - to other UK Linux organisations
A diary so we can flag forthcomming events
Sound good?

I've only just joined, having moved to Tunstall in early December. I
was previously active in Cumbria LUG, so I'd hope to be active, but I
suppose that will depend on when & where meetings are, as much as
anything.
