Hi all,
I'm a recent graduate of Staffordshire University obtaining a 2.1 in
Network Engineering and am in need of employment within the IT field.
I have experience in working as an ICT Technician, where my roles and
responsibilities included:
- Day-to-day maintenance of approx 400 Windows XP Professional desktop
computers.
- Backup and restoration of files and folders using Veritas Backup Exec
- Active directory maintenance/administration of approx 1200 users
- Sole responsibility of WLAN Infrastructure
- Media capture and editing
- Maintenance of Data projectors, Laser printers, Photocopiers & other
ICT resources
- PC fault finding and troubleshooting
- Maintenance & troubleshooting of bespoke (education) software.
- Data recovery
- Installation of new computers using Deploy Tools, Ghost and BartPE
I also have some experience with Cisco devices:
- Cisco Routers
- Cisco Switches, including Layer 3 switches
- Cisco Aironet Wireless Access Points
- Cisco PIX firewall devices
In my spare time I play and tinker with Linux.
I am aware of the IT Job mentioned by Chris Snow, but I'd like something
which pays something comparable to my current job (circa £16k)

Your choices are myriad - depending on where you
want to go, what you need to be paid, etc.
The two routes are 1) employment or 2) your
own enterprise.
In the latter case the world is your lobster, but you
need to be able to live through the lean times, cope
with occasional 24 hour days, develop v good self-discipline,
and learn quickly from mistakes [1]

board at geekup [2], and countless recruiters of whom

do seem a couple of days behind the others in picking up the
jobs, but at least seem to mop up others' listings to
produce a comprehensive selection.

We have a vacancy for a Technical Support Engineer, the salary range is
between £20 - £30k depending on the relevant experience you have.
Location is in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham the ideal candidate will
have either an MCSE or a Red Hat Certification.

In this role you will be responsible for providing technical customer

To succeed as a Technical Support Engineer you must have previous

storage configuration. An MCSE or Red Hat accreditation would be a

experience, as long as you can demonstrate knowledge of IT servers and
infrastructures. And because our product is available in many
environments (e.g. Exchange, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 to name a few),
candidates with experience in a particular application area will also be
considered.
Additionally, as a Technical Support Engineer you should have a good
attitude, the ability to work in a team, and the desire to show off your
skills, whilst delivering a high level of customer service.
