Help,
I'm trying to dowload a distro. It gets about halfway through (150 of
390) and just stops. Tried 3 times now. No error msg, connection
working fine.
Any ideas

I can't really offer any solution - other than below - but I can tell
you that I have had exactly the same. I have tried to download some
stuff not long ago and it too got so far then completely stopped. It
got to about 74% complete then the connection just dropped entirely to
the server. Not the BB connection itself just to that server.
The only thing I can think of is try a different mirror if there is one.

get star downloader for windows and download with that, it's a pretty
nifty download manager and free edition available.

There are a few Linux downloaders available. I've not used them so I
can't recommend one I'm afraid. Basically a downloader will step in
when you click the link to download a file. It will take over and
allow you to grab so much of the file then, if you wish, pause it or
even switch your PC off altogether. It will then pick up the file
where it left off last time when you switch on again.

The Ffox plugin that I already have does all that. Anyway, I took your
advice and tried a different mirror. It worked OK, 390MB 1hr 30mins on
my talktalk "up to 8Mb" connection. Actually runs at best 65KB/sec !
Installed it to lappy now so the fun is just beginning, nothing
working so far. Distro is Zenwalk, Xfce all new to me.

Great stuff :-) it was obviously a tempremental mirror, you get them
sometimes. You'll love Zenwalk when you get used to it. It is
different to KDE but similar in looks to Gnome. There are some very
good bits of documentation on the site, I recommend you read them :-)
Actually, you are coming to Xfce at a good time. They've just
included a new - far better - file manager. I forget the name but it
is far superior to the old one. There have been a number of other
significant improvements by all accounts in Xfce.
