Hi Jenette,
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and is commonly known as a 'chat room'.
If you find out how to install xchat via your chosen distribution of
Linux (it's worth using Google to find a howto guide) you can then
connect to the
freenode.net IRC server, and join the #staffslug
channel (or 'room'). :)

If I want to install xchat via the synaptic manager in Ubuntu does anyone know which xchat
applications to install as there is a long list of them and I don't just want to
install them all please bear in mind I am a newbie cant keep up with most of your
conversations
