Hello,
Some of you may have spoken to me previously in the IRC channel, probably not so likely
for others! I'm a web developer that is currently based in Stoke on Trent, I work with
local and foreign businesses on projects ranging from API integrations to the odd front
end site here and there.
I currently use a mixture of OSs, OSX being the primary, one Ubuntu and one Debian server
at home and I run Debian on the production server for tweekly.fm (65,000 users now!).
I've been interested in Linux for many years and gained enough knowledge over time to
be comfortable using most distros. I learned pretty quickly that there is no book that can
teach you what experience gives so I jumped right in with breaking things and then seeing
how I could fix them (don't worry, that was just when I was young!).
I'm hoping to speak to like minded folks here and have already met Matthew who is a
rather lovely chap.

Hi Scott
Just wanted to say that I have been a user of tweekly.fm for some time and
was amazed to find out recently that it came from a local developer, great
job. I'm a big fan of last.fm and twitter and think your service is great
even if it does embarrass me occasionally (I blame all the Alvin and
Chipmunks listens on the kids).

Well thats awesome, I'm always happy to hear from users of tweekly. I've been in
the same boat a few times with music taste, but I try to remove to turn scrobbling off
when I'm listening to the bad/dodgy stuff!

Ah, to cut a long story short... I was booted out of Freecycle, the
top man wanted me out, he was wrong and lied to about me publicly and
worldwide and this has been proven. I set up Freeworld-Recycling
because I refused to hand over the groups I had built up that were
local to me to somebody 6 months later the majority of the Freecycle
groups here in the UK also pulled out of Freecycle and formed Freegle.
This was partly because of what happened to me. Freeworld-recycling
(we now have 9 groups in our little organisation) was asked if it
wanted to affiliate with Freegle which we did. There you have it. We
simply facilitate local community based recycling of unwanted items.
Yes, we gets loads of computer bits being offered too. It also gives
me the opportunity to to push Linux and open source software :-)
