I'm not sure that the "concerns about how easily it [open source]
could be hacked" comment is the sort of stuff we need, nor am I sure
that it isn't FUD.

Russ, I personally think this is exactly the sort of thing that needs
to be openly and very publically looked at. But, with a proper, fair
and balanced viewpoint to it. Open source is easy to hack and that's
why it is so popular with a lot of developers, the code can be seen
and manipulated. Now, obviously we want this 'manipulation to be for
the better (either the end user or the community as a whole) so this
needs to be shown, highlighted even spotlighted and compared to closed
source software. It needs to be shown that closed source software can
also be hacked but when this happens it is actually not generally for
good.
Turn the statement around and make it work for us.
