Anyone here host there own server?? i currently rent one from streamline but they wont let me ahve flexibility over software on it :( i was wondering how i woudl go about setting one up with a DNS etc so i host EVERYTHING also how would domains b set up? how would i register them with nominet?

would you recommend doing it? as adsl only has 256kbs upload speed so not alot of running serveral sites..

i pay absolutely nothing, a friend in wisconsin hosts several servers which well.. he gave me root on in exchange for help! but i definetly reccomend american bandwidth, price cannot be beaten and the QOS.. well the lowest uptime i have (this includes the connection, as it's an IRC server and a Teamspeak server) was 152 days upon my last weekly checkup me thinks.. Sound advice but it's a fcking long way to drive if you lose control! Depends what your needs are but some of the Xen offerings are looking good and you can xm migrate to and from your server at home! get a domain from anywhere.. that doesn't make a damn bit of difference.. i'm pretty sure they're standard rate of $10.. but take your nameservers in house (simply because you'll have much more control, and it doesn't take much system resources to do so..)
