The site you linked to says "A recent report from Digitimes suggests a
selling price of under $599 US", which is about £380. Cheaper than an
iPad, yes, but rather more than £300.

I think that these tablet PC's (Apple's, ASUS and whoever
else jumps
into making them) will bomb within 12 months. Why? Because first and
foremost they are so susceptible to damage. Think of how a mobile
phone gets if it's not in a case. The screen is soon scratched to
high heaven. We live it. Could we live it on a device that is a PC
though? I couldn't.
So why not put it in a case? I've ordered a Kindle, and I'm intending
to buy a case for it. There are plenty available for the Kindle, I
imagine there are cases for the iPad too.

At 40, I don't think I count as "the younger generation" any more :)
I was looking at an Android tablet, but ended up ordering a 3G Kindle.
I want it mainly for reading books, though I like the fact that it has
a built-in browser, and there's an SDK for it now. There were several
factors made me buy a Kindle instead of a tablet, battery life being a
big one. Free 3G is also nice, though :)
