It could be a Master Boot Record problem (corrupted).  I seem to
remember that there is an automatic way of repairing the 'MBR' on the
Win XP installation disk.  However, I don't run XP very often.  I fire
it up maybe once every 12 months (or slightly more if I have to repair
my brother's PC).  So, I am not sure if it is easy to get to...
