Yes but Kubuntu is a derivative of Ubuntu so its a derivative of a derivative.

I hope it doesn't Ubuntu is not my poison of choice I personally don't
use it as my main flavor because IMO its over hyped.
Right, having thought about it a bit more.. I just feel that Ubuntu
is billed as being a great distro for a newcomer. I strongly disagree
with this - though, to be fair it has got better...I do keep trying
it. I think Ulteo has far more potential as a newcomers OS.
