allow you to grab so much of the file then, if you wish, pause it or
even switch your PC off altogether. It will then pick up the file
where it left off last time when you switch on again.

The Ffox plugin that I already have does all that. Anyway, I took your
advice and tried a different mirror. It worked OK, 390MB 1hr 30mins on
my talktalk "up to 8Mb" connection. Actually runs at best 65KB/sec !
Installed it to lappy now so the fun is just beginning, nothing
working so far. Distro is Zenwalk, Xfce all new to me.
