Chris you can undo the two retaining screws on the adapter at the back of the ROM drive,
(Brown or black block) most are generic Laptop drives tbh swap the adapter on the
replacement drive If you're really really stuck I have some here but it would be a
right performance to help you as we'd need to compare the drives ect.
I did the same thing on a Dell 4600 the other day swapped a DVDROM for the CDROM I think
the DVD was out of an IBM laptop if memory serves?
