I knew that.
What you want is a distro .iso but with the latest released updates as
the install packages eg overwriting any packages that have newer or
updated releases. Oh and all the drivers plus your setup as well.
I've never used LiveCD so don't know how it works.
My advice:
Buy / get / steal a second HDD use something like ghost copy and copy
the entire disc over then if all goes wrong bang in the reserve disc
format the old one and start again.
At the end of the day its still a backup solution I'd save some grief
and copy any important stuff to an external storage device including
drivers etc.
As a low tec poor mans solution I regularly copy /home to an external
drive that way its just a simple cut-and-paste to put the original
back.
