I agree a forum is too much work. you have to pick some mods etc. I also
don't have the time to check forums when im on the move but things like
email my rss feed from identi.ca/twitter are easily checked.

Personally I don't think Wordpress is what you need, if you intend to
run Forums/Community builders/Calendars/Events etc you'll need Joomla,
Drupal Blah blah blah. While you can create 'links' to standalone
features like Gallery2 you'd be better off having a proper cms (Content
Management System) rather than say;
/wordpress
---------------/Gallery
-------------------------/Forum
That could end up a lotta storage and a '/path nightmare'
Having said that I hate Forums so wouldn't join one if we had one I much
prefer mailing lists anyway.
