I've > totally forgotten :-( > You can do it the Stuart'n'Kris method. Boot your PC on Ubuntu disk live. If display all OK cut 'n' paste the whole Xorg.conf into the one on your installed ubuntu. You'll have to be root of course. I blew up a gfx card and trashed everything - this is how we got round it. Then I ummed and ahhed about leaving it until morning to run the command. In the end I couldn't wait :-) So I am back with a lovely X server again.
