That is pushing SSD speeds (with 2tb storage...). The F3 is pennies
now too, so you'd be getting an all round better solution than a
raptor/velociraptor drive imo...
Pushing 'SSD' transfer rates, maybe. Some SSDs anyway - depends how much
you fancy spending.
The random-request (read or write) speeds of SSDs, particularly with
recent Sandforce/Intel models, is an order of magnitude better than any
form of rotating rust.
Personally I agree with Andrew on the storage/speed/cost front; I don't
think I'd buy another 'Raptor now, although RPM increases do typically
come with improved random workload performances, they're nothing like
the SSD experience. If you can't afford SSD prices, stick with the
Samsung F3/WD Caviar Black level of disk(s). :)
