Ubuntu Crash.
by Geoff Whiles
Hello,
I am a user of Ubuntu and have been since the release of 12.04. I have
little understanding of the workings of Linux, though I have several
heavyweight tutorials and I'm not afraid to use the Terminal. I use Ubuntu
as a means to an end, in day to day home computing. Forgive the
terminology, but I am neither a geek or programmer.
The system has completely crashed. Attached are several pics. I won't
witter further, so as not to complicate my dilemma. I should add that I
also get many pubkey errors, and also whilst booting, the whole system
hangs and I have to hard break to shut down.
I hope that this message lands with someone who can dig me out of this
almighty hole or maybe refer me to someone who might be able to help. And
of course, I am happy to pay for any work undertaken.
Kind regards
Geoff Whiles

Excursion! Retro Gaming Night at Derby Computer Museum
by Steven Maddox
Lo!
A few of us are going to this event hosted by DCM (Derby Computer Museum)...
https://www.derbycomputermuseum.co.uk/byob-retro-gaming-nights
We're going on the 18th October 2025 (a Saturday) and we'll get to Derby
for around 6pm onwards.
So if you're in to some retro computing and retro gaming, it should be a
fun night. It's a BYOB event (bring your own bottle!) so we'll figure
out some designated drivers.
For now I've bought 5 tickets as I've heard (even before this first
announcement) from at least 5 people that are interested about this already.
If you also fancy going, just buy your ticket on that webpage... and let
us know you're also coming! It would be useful to co-ordinate transport.
I've been to DCM before (during the day, whilst doing a bit of shopping
in Derby town centre) and it was actually really very good... many
floors of some really well preserved machines, that you can really start
to just USE! So I can imagine this'll be an amazing night!
Thanks
