OK so only 3 days after the relaunch and already got a trip on the cards :)
Sounds like a few of us are going to OggCamp 2019
<https://oggcamp.org/>. I've never been personally myself but Keira and
Darren are veterans and this will be their 6th year :)
I've popped some details on the website for anyone interested in tagging
along on the day we're going...
If anyone wants to discuss/chat about it, etc... please join the trips@
mailing list (either via the web interface on
https://lists.staffslug.org.uk or e-mail
This is mostly to get the word out... for those which have recently
subscribed to the general@ list.
The first meeting (since the relaunch) will be on Tuesday 24th
September. It's a Workshop meeting, so as a rule the room is open from
6pm but nothing requiring any 'group participation' (e.g. lab sessions /
presentations / etc...) will actually start until 7pm.
Details on the venue can be found here
<https://staffslug.org.uk/events#Workshops> and details as to what will
take place at this particular workshop event on the 24th September is
here <https://staffslug.org.uk/calendar/#Workshops>... you'll also
notice there are a few more Workshop events already brewing.
If you miss the socials in a pub... then pop along to this first
Workshop as we'll also be figuring out how often to have both Workshop
and Socials (and dates/times) based on everyone's mood (meeting each
other face to face).
If anyone wants to chat about this (or any meeting... social or
workshop)... please join the *meetings@* mailing list (either via the
web interface on https://lists.staffslug.org.uk or e-mail
I know this is different to how it was in the past, but this way it
stops several dozen e-mails (usually a list of who is/isn't going) from
bugging people that don't (or can't due to distance) want to go to
Just a quick hello. I was involved in the LUG back in the day. We had
several meetings at my workplace (Navaho in Stafford).
I don't work for Navaho any more, but I'm looking forward to meeting you
all (again in some cases).
If you are reading this then you are one of 14 different people I just
enrolled on the *new* Staffordshire Linux User Group mailing list system.
14 people isn't anything to be too concerned with as it's just the
people I'm *allowed* to enrol, this is because you (or someone you know
with your consent) put your name down on a little clipboard I have here
- that I can now shred :)
I'll be contacting the 70-ish older LUG members with a direct mail so
they can enrol themselves if they want to.
Plus then we've got ties to the local Potteries Hackspace and hopefully
other avenues like Keele, various local employers, the local BCS chapter
I encourage you all to take a good look around the new website at
It's still a work in progress but it's been fleshed out to the point
where there is at least something on every page.
The first workshop meeting will be on the 24th September for example!
Details are on the site.
There are many options you can personally set while being in this
mailing list, including just getting a daily digest, turning off e-mails
altogether and/or just using it via the new forum-like HyperKitty web
interface which comes with Mailman 3.
You can find that all at https://lists.stafflug.org.uk
Just remember if you make a Username/Password on that system, you should
use the same e-mail address that you've received this message on so that
it ties the two things together.
StaffsLUG is back - I've missed it :-)
I'm doing a bit of ZFS at work and RasPi in my spare time :-)
