OggCamp 2026
by Steven Maddox
Lo!
Just giving you all a heads up in case you didn't know... Oggcamp is
back for this year!
(they skipped last year... some of us in the LUG went in 2024 & 2019 though)
https://www.oggcamp.org/
It's a 2 day event on the weekend of April 25th and 26th at the Pendulum
Hotel in Manchester (same venue as the last two times)... which is only
a short walk from the train station in Manchester.
Usually people make their own way up by just hopping on a train at Stoke
station which are very regular... and it's a good opportunity to take in
some interesting talks and it's highly recommended.
We don't get a lot of things like this which happen so close to us!
Usually you have to go much further south (e.g. London) or even Brussels
(e.g. like FOSDEM which is happening today and tomorrow actually!..
although there are some people in the LUG interested in doing that next
year with cheap flights... let me know if that interests you too)
So don't miss your chance, you'll be in good company if you do come with
plenty of familiar faces.
Hope to see you there!
Oh... and your ticket (buy them online) covers you for both days... but
people in the LUG just seem to normally go on the first day only... it's
up to you. Actually this year I'll be stopping overnight in the hotel
itself (it's half price if you use the code DELEGATE) and doing the
second day too. Alternatively it's not exactly difficult to get another
very short and cheap train the next day.
I'll try and remember to send another reminder closer to... but don't
wait too long to get your tickets!

Re: [org-stoke] Informal regional social
by Steven Maddox
Hello everyone!
Just dropping a quick message to say that ORG are running another social
on the 11th March... similar to the one they ran at the start of January.
The last time it was at a pub (so it's not really something you can join
online) which is about an hour away by car (if taking the M6) or 10
minutes walk if you get the train to Manchester Piccadilly first (which
are very frequent from Stoke station)... and it started around 6pm.
Once I get confirmation of the address this time... I'll send the link
you can RSVP with. Or perhaps @Alberico you could pop a reply here with
that?
Let us know if you are interested in the mean time.
I'm also this time going to CC in the StaffsLUG group as I know there
are a lot of digital rights enthusiasts there which have perhaps
neglected to also subscribe to the ORG Stoke mailing list :)

Re: ILoveFS Day 2026 event - Tuesday 10th February! - TOMORROW !!!
by Steven Maddox
Quick reminder about ILoveFS Day which is taking place tomorrow at the
KPA (details below on the previous email).
The usual laptops have been found (really happy to see Trisquel 11 is
still current... only means I need to do minor updates!)
... as have the balloons (and helium!), all the free stickers, the usual
budget for free food and drinks.... and importantly THE QUIZ (and some
prizes for 1st / 2nd place too).
Spare a thought for your favourite maintainer!
Hope to see you there :)
