Testing Zorin OS at the moment, a Linux distro from a company based out of Guinness
Enterprise Centre in Dublin.
Anyone else tried this one?

Sounds familiar but nah I haven't tried it (yet). Loving how it says
the latest version has Flatpak support built in though.

Had a brief play today but it was a bit of a disaster. Zorin didn't like my
multi-monitor setup. Nvidia didn't work out of the box (selected the install with
drivers option and download third-party software).
Stuck with one monitor in basic 1024x768 mode (made worse by this being one of my portrait
monitors, but that's my bad), tried to fix but none of the display settings worked.
Restarted PC but now can't login, no password errors so I think it basically fails on
display and then goes back to login menu.
Went back to the USB installer but seems to be lacking a reinstall/repair option.
Attempting to install makes it want to install a -second- installation.
So for now I've cut my losses, but learnt more about EFI in my efforts to clear out
the mess of partitions this one and a half installations created.
Might have another stab post Christmas with just the main monitor connected and -not-
choosing the Nvidia option.

I've dabbled with Zorin in the past but I am talking a good few years now.
I've been running Mint for something like 7 or 8 years now. The lst couple
have been exclusively Mint but even dual booted with Windows I cannot
remember the last time I used MS software.
Now, which version of Zorin are you trying? There's the free as in
monetary version which I seem to recall is missing some drivers etc
(proprietary of course). Then there is a second tier, paid for version
with a few more bells and whistles and a support package. I always tried
the freebie versions but never stuck with it. This was when I was still
flitting from one distro to another of course.

The Free version 15
I've tried a few different options but 'out of the box' Zorin seems to have
very little display support.
The none-nVidia installation at least gave 1080p on one monitor but it completely ignores
the display port monitors. Telliing Zorin to use the monitor in portrait mode also
doesn't work (even though it is listed as an option).

Been fighting the flu since New Years Eve so haven't done much with this until
recently. Zorin seems to work fine under VMWare Player using ubuntu default settings and
installing the Linux VMWare Tools manually within Zorin.
With hindsight not sure why I didn't start with a VM Zorin as that is how I'm
currently using ubuntu. Feels more intuitive for somebody like me than ubuntu, but if
I'm to use it seriously without the overhead of Windows 10 in the background I'll
need to read up on manually configuring graphics cards :P

It may be easier to see this issue up close if you can bring it in.
I can't see it being an overwhelmingly difficult issue as it's just
based on Ubuntu which 99/100 works out of the box. If we figure it out
then I could help to explain what they're doing wrong in a bug report to
them. That is assuming the same version of Ubuntu (that your version of
Zorin is based on) doesn't suffer from the same issue.

That sounds like a good plan. Of course, now you are in Wolves LUG too you
have an onboard membe of Ubuntu staff to call upon. Jono Bacon is a Wolves

I thought you were implying it was odd that I'd kept track of the guy, and
therefore I was the odd one.
I've never actually met, him but chatted a couple of times online and
connected on LinkedIn. I'd remembered he wasn't in W'ton any longer so when
you'd mentioned him being in the group, I thought I'd let you know he
probably wouldn't be at a Wolves LUG meeting. I thought I was being helpful
