Re: Open Source Hardware Camp 2024
by Steven Maddox
Yeah I've seen the date but left it off on purpose, as it's not
officially announced yet. Wouldn't want people making plans then find
the date has changed by the time it appears on their website.
This was more to see how people felt about the event, as (at least to my
knowledge) no one from StaffsLUG has been before.
Like I said in my last e-mail, I'll update when there is an official
announcement.

See nothing including even dates for 24 yet Steven. Isnt it better to wait for the dates so people can plan? That said so you have dates in the email sent to you ?

The 'Wuthering Bytes' technology festival will take place over several
days... but only two consecutive days of those (a weekend) will be when
OSHCamp is running.
It'll be £12 per day and includes lunch and tea/coffee.
Such topics you'll likely see presented are...

* Novel/interesting/fun projects built using open source hardware
* Tools (hardware and software)
* Skills and techniques, e.g. PCB fab, DIY SMT assembly
* Relevant technologies, e.g. SPI/I2C bus programming
* etc...

FSFE Potteries is celebrating I Love Free Software Day 2024
by Steven Maddox
Hello everyone!
I'm relaying a message from FSFE Potteries as they'll be celebrating I
Love Free Software Day on Tuesday 13th February
<https://wiki.fsfe.org/LocalGroups/Potteries/Calendar> (which is better
as it avoids Valentines Day this year!).
Since the CoCoLab venue is currently relocating (they used that venue as
well as us), they've decided to host this event at the marvellous KPA
Clubhouse <https://wiki.fsfe.org/LocalGroups/Potteries/KPA%20Clubhouse>
which is the same place that we normally hold social meetings.
They'll have free hot food and snacks (inc. vegan and gluten friendly),
soft drinks, and a few laptops running Trisquel GNU/Linux if you fancy
giving some Free Software a try! These will also be loaded with some
Free Software games too!
Everyone is welcome, so bring along your friends, significant other, or
family of all ages! Even if they've never heard of Free Software
before, it'll be a good way to introduce them to the topic.
If you reply to this e-mail to say you'll be coming then I'll relay it
back to them, alternatively subscribe to their mailing list here
<https://lists.fsfe.org/mailman/listinfo/potteries> and message them on
that, or e-mail them at potteries(a)fsfe.org.
You can find various FSFE Potteries information on their website
<https://fsfe.org/potteries>.
📅 Tuesday 13th February
⏰ 6:30pm onwards
📍 The KPA Clubhouse, 97 Horwood Road, Keele University, Keele,
Staffordshire, ST5 5DY, United Kingdom
🌐 Latitude: 53.00137 Longitude: -2.26971
Directions:
🛈 It's on the Keele University campus just off the M6 in Staffordshire,
just west of Stoke-on-Trent. The building is shown on the Keele campus
map as building number 9
<https://www.keele.ac.uk/about/howtofindus/maps/keele-campus-map.pdf>.
🚗 Use the university's visitor parking which is free in the evenings
and weekends as seen on this map
<https://www.keele.ac.uk/about/howtofindus/maps/keele-campus-map.pdf>.
🚪 Enter the clubhouse as normal, come up the stairs opposite the bar
area and you'll find us all up there, as we've hired the room!
Thanks,
