Lo everyone!
This is just a quick reminder about the event on Tuesday, details were
announced last month... but I don't mind repeating them! :D
Robin Crorie will be covering the Exim MTA software.
An MTA being a "Mail Transport Agent" and is basically responsible for
receiving/sending e-mail between other MTAs online... basically the
entire reason why e-mail can be ran by anyone, and sent and received
to/from anyone!
For those curious about the mechanisms of e-mail... this will be useful
and cover things from the Exim perspective which Robin has a lot of
experience using. Other MTA's exist too such as Postfix, but regardless
of what you've had experience with, this should get you thinking
regardless of what you've used in the past.
Here is the agenda that is now on the website, hope to see you there.
*The Exim MTA (mail transport agent)*
* What is an MTA?
* Exim v Sendmail
* Exim's Linux environment
* The structure of Exim's configuration file
* "Feeding and watering" Exim
* Playing with Exim - Workshop session
As usual our doors will be open from 6pm onwards for a normal start time
of 7pm
Details of the venue are on the site
<
https://staffslug.org.uk/events/#Workshops> but basically stick ST5 5NB
into your sat-nav/phone and you'll find a building that looks like the
below photo... be sure to use the 2nd entrance (it's the lower half of
the building) marked by the big red arrow I've drawn!
Park anywhere at that back entrance and hit the doorbell on the
"Internet Central" door.
See you there :)
