This is just a quick reminder about tomorrow, it should be a good turn out! I know some of will be getting a bite to eat around the time we're meeting up... so you won't be the only one if you fancy doing that too. Hello everyone! I'd like to just quickly explain about yesterdays evening social, in case anyone was confused! Basically I rung the KPA on the 18th August (around 6pm) to ask if they'd... a) be open as usual on Tuesday 27th given there won't be many students around b) be doing food as usual until 8pm I got... yes, yes. :)  Simple call, didn't think much of it. As some of you have gathered... due to the lack of people in the venue that afternoon (prior to our arrival) the KPA had already sent a bunch of staff home early... and decided to shut up shop at 7pm. So we tried to send everyone up the bank to the Sneyd Arms... only to find THEY were ALSO closed too (with a little sign on the door that Jason photographed and put on Discord for everyone to see! lol). Anyway about 9 of decided to stick around until 7:15... so we got 45 minutes before we were kicked out. Suffice to say this has annoyed me greatly!  Particularly as (counting everyone that turned up later after we'd gone, people who caught our warnings to stay at home, and people that tried the Sneyd and then went home)... we would have had a good turn out of around 20 people! Many of you fresh faces, which is fantastic! Please don't be put off by this... it's never happened before! I'm likely going to re-arrange this for 10th September (same time) and, if I can get iron-clad assurances from the KPA this time (even booking the upstairs room if I have to, even though hopefully it'll be nice enough weather to be outside)... they'll remember that we're coming and stay open! So stay tuned I'll likely send out an announcement tomorrow about the official date for our 'Summer Meeting (Second Edition)'... or would Service Pack 1 work better?  I don't know. Sorry for the chaos :S p.s. NEXT year, I'd love to get some ideas for an alternate place for the summer social... maybe somewhere more central in Stoke-on-Trent itself with a beer garden?  Somewhere with a bit more activity than a dead university campus in the middle of summer (which is still a great venue at other times of the year). But for now, I'll let the KPA do the grovelling and give us the nice discount they offered us for cocking up this time :P Sorry again...
